All roads will lead to Chris IV Hall 1 next year while the preparations collect momentum for the inaugural edition of the top of the national youth Mbaise – Ngor Okpala, tagged “decide Youths”.
The long -awaited summit should bring over 700 young delegates of Asiazu, Abhh Mbaise, Ezinihitte and Ngor Okpala Local Government areas to discuss issues on the border with history, identity, political representation and development within the Mbaise nation and his sister LGA, Ngor Okpala.
According to the call, Chukwuemaka Frank Erges, the event is designed to provide a platform for young people to reconnect with their heritage, question past political and cultural developments and engage directly with community, religious and political leaders on issues that affect their future.
“Our goal is to awaken consciousness among our young people. Each gathering of young people must not be seen through a political lens. This summit concerns the identity, unity and the future of our generation,” said Owerri while it presents the topic of the summit.
Key problems on the table
The discussions at the top will focus on several stimulating questions, including:
Why was Mbaise was divided into two federal electoral colleges – Asiazu/Ezinihitte and Abah/Ngor Okpala – unlike Owerri, which maintains three LGA in an election college?
Is there an ancestral or historical link between Mbaise and Ngor Okpala?
Was the political division been beneficial or harmful to the development of the region?
Why do different communities of Ngor Okpala share names with the city of Mbaise, like Nguru?
Why has the strategic road that connects Ngor Okpala, Abah, Ezinihitte and Asiazu remained in ruins for over 16 years?
Should Ngor Okpala be officially recognized as a development partner of Mbaise?
Bad participation
The organizers released a target break for the planned delegates:
Adiazu Mbaise: 200 young people
Abhh Mbaise: 200 young people
Ezinihitte Mbaise: 150 young people
Ngor Okpala: 150 young people
This brings the total participation scheduled to 700 participants.
Beyond politics
Agege clarified that the summit is not politically motivated, but a cultural and educational commitment focused on the youth aimed at reconstructing the unity and understanding between the nearby LGA.
“This initiative concerns the creation of a space for an honest dialogue. Our people share deep historical roots, and it is time that we have revisited those ties to trace a better course for our young people,” he added.
With several leaders of the community, academics, traditional sovereigns and development supporters who should embellish the event, the Mbaise-Ngor Okpala National Youth Summit 2025 is already preparing to be a moment of reference in the collective journey to unity, cultural pride and socio-political renewal in the region.
