Meta, in partnerships with the Ministry of Federal Communication, Innovation & Digital Economy (FMCIDE), National Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), have announced the launch of the Llama Impact Accelerator program aimed at allowing the development of AI solutions that have an impact on Nigeria.
The 8-month program is designed to support startups in the initial stages that utilize the Open-Source model to overcome the national and regional challenges in four high priority fields, including agriculture, security & safety, health care, and categories of wild cards that encourage bold, original AI applications in other sectors with high impact potential.
With a strong focus on open innovations, this program includes a six -week incubation phase, where the chosen team will receive technical training and guidance from AI experts and industrial leaders, followed by six months of extended support, including access to additional technical resources and opportunities.

Accelerator aims to enable local innovators with the latest tools, infrastructure, and support to build responsibly with Open Source LLM such as Meta’s Llama.
