The Lagos chapter of the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) The tournament begins today at the prestigious Lagos Country Club with over 70 players already registered to compete in different age categories.
The three-day competition, organized under the Universal Tennis Rating system, will run from May 7 to 9, with matches scheduled to begin daily from 9:00 am.

The tournament is expected to attract some of the country’s emerging talent as players battle for ranking points, exposure and competitive experience in one of the growing tennis development platforms in Nigeria.
The event is part of the growing number of UTR competitions being organized across the country to provide junior and senior players with opportunities to improve their overall ratings and gain more match experience.
The organizers have also encouraged tennis enthusiasts and followers to attend the event and cheer on the players throughout the competition as the Lagos Country Club, the venue is already a hotbed of budding tennis talent.
Beyond Lagos, there are more UTR tournaments scheduled in other parts of the country, including the Abuja Future Junior Open scheduled for May 9-10 at the National Stadium, Abuja, and the Tswako Foundation UTR Professional Championship scheduled for May 23 in Abuja.
