MTN Family Easter Funfair excites Imo holidaymakers

It was really fun as holidaymakers enjoyed their Easter Sunday and Monday holidays with pomp and pageantry through the platform created by MTN Nigeria known as MTN Family Fun Fair.

Thousands of families comprising adults and children flocked to Owerri Mall (Shoprite Centre) where they had fun. There was a lottery draw and lots of food, drinks and gift items such as umbrellas, caps, notepads, gas stove, television, generators, refrigerators, bags of rice, Keke Napep vehicle which the winner missed and lost because he left after purchasing the lottery ticket, and free movie tickets at the cinema.

Some prominent musicians like Achara man and Cola boy performed on the stage. There were freeze dances, Be-in Zero, One, Two, Three; Game Four and Five, family sessions in which husbands were given the opportunity to tie their wives’ veils and wives were given the opportunity to tie their husbands’ ties. Yellow Santa Claus, MTN’s version of Santa Claus, was on the ground to deliver presents to attendees.

The next day, Easter Monday, offered holidaymakers the opportunity to relax and watch a film, “The Crreek”, which focused on the problems in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

Commenting on the MTN Family Fun Fair show, the State Director of MTN in Imo, Chibuike Obilor, welcomed back customers who attended the 2025 show and disclosed that arrangements were at full capacity to make the 2026 edition more exciting with better experiences.

He said: “Look at the environment, green and prepared for the occasion. There are many things to make both children and adults happy. So, we are ready to flow with you to make you happy, have a great experience, think and remember MTN. So, MTN is the yellow and number 1 communication company in Nigeria and we want to remain number 1 courtesy of all of you sitting here.”

Also commenting on the family funfair, the Chief Executive Officer of one of MTN’s major partners in the state, OZB Communications, Barr Ijeoma Ozuruigbo, said bluntly that MTN Nigeria has blessed families, including his own.

“MTN Nigeria has given scholarships to people and through their foundation, they have given back to society. They help the less privileged and provide healthcare and businesses to people and I am benefiting from that. And I want to thank them because they have made life less stressful,” he said.

One customer, Comrade Pastor Opara, prayed for greater patronage and a larger customer base to balance their social responsibility towards the people. Prince Akano Edward Musa, who won a generator, said his data client told him about the event and begged MTN not to relax its efforts to help humanity.

The Easter Monday movie show at Genesis Hall kept moviegoers glued to their seats as they watched a film about the Niger Delta titled “The Creek”. Musicians and comedians, Prince Mickey and Teddy Universe, said that this is a typical example of what happens in the country, where government negligence towards the dividends of popular democracy leads to youth restiveness, kidnappings and other crimes.

They said that due to the control of oil, youth groups fought each other and lost their lives. They said the film also focuses on crime and cultism among youths in the Niger Delta region and praised MTN for the emotional moments.
