Jose Peseiro has listed his final 25-man squad for Nigeria’s campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, opting for a roster comprising three goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders, and eight forwards.
Ahmed Musa makes a return to the squad after being omitted from games in the AFCON qualifiers and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.
The goalkeeping department features South Africa-based Stanley Nwabili alongside Francis Uzoho and Olorunleke Ojo.
Kenneth Omeruo joins William Troost-Ekong, Olaoluwa Aina, and others in fortifying the team’s backline.
Wilfred Ndidi is set to make a comeback to the midfield, complementing the likes of Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika, Joe Ayodele-Aribo, and Frank Onyeka.
Upfront, Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho lead the attackline.
The squad is scheduled to convene in Abu Dhabi, on January 2, for a one-week training camp.
After returning to Lagos on January 9th, the team will then head to Abidjan for the AFCON tournament.
In Group A, the Super Eagles are set to face Equatorial Guinea (January 14th), followed by matches against the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire (January 18th), and Guinea Bissau (January 22nd).
