President of Nigeria Basketball Federation (Nbbf), Engr. Musa Kida was among the distinct recipients of the prestigious Wakawaka Sports Award held during the weekend at the Hupscale City Cruz Hotel in Owerri. The event, which attracted sports stakeholders from all over the country, celebrated exceptional exceptional contributions to Nigerian sports.
Engr. Kida, who was inevitably absent, was skillfully represented by the president of the Imo State Basketball Association, Kelechi Anosike, who received the prize on his behalf. The president of Nbbf was honored for his unshakable dedication to the development of basketball in Nigeria, in particular during a turbulent period marked by internal challenges and by the temporary suspension of the Federation by the FIBA. Despite the chances, Kida’s leadership contributed to stabilizing the ship and repositioning Nigerian basketball on the global stage.
Since she passed those first challenges in her second term, Kida has led a renewed push for basic development, transparency in administration and international competitiveness. The Wakawaka Sports Award is a testimony of its resilience and commitment, recognizing a mandate that has led stability and growth to one of the most promising sports of Nigeria.
