The president of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and President of Nigeria Basketball Federation (Nbbf), Engr. Musa Kida, was among the high -profile honored personalities to the prestigious Wakawaka Sports Award held during the weekend at the elegant City Cruz Hotel in Owerri, in the state of IMO.
Engr. Kida, who was inevitably absent due to official commitments, was represented by the president of the Imo State Basketball Association, Kelechi Anosike, who received the prize on his behalf. The prize recognized the exceptional and supported contributions from Kida to the development of basketball in Nigeria. Despite a rocky beginning for his second mandate as president of Nbbf, marked by administrative turbulence and a suspension by the Fiba, Kida successfully guided the federation from the crisis and in a new era of stability and growth.
Now acting as president of the NNPC, Kida has continued to influence national development through energy leadership and sports progress. Under his administration, the Basket Federation has experienced a awakening, with renewed basic initiatives, a better governance and stronger international representation. The Wakawaka Sports Award is an appropriate tribute to a leader whose vision, resilience and commitment have positively modeled both sports and energy sectors in Nigeria.
