Mutiu Adepoju expresses interest in coaching the Super Eagles

Former international Mutiu Adepoju has shown interest in coaching the Super Eagles following the resignation of Finidi George a few weeks ago.

Mutiu Adepoju, who was part of the Nigerian team that won the 1994 African Cup of Nations and played for the Flying Eagles in the fifa U-20 World Cup in Saudi Arabia, has stated that he is open to coaching the Super Eagles if the opportunity arises.

Mutiu Adepoju scored six goals in 48 games for the national team. His breakthrough came during the 1992 African Cup of Nations, when he helped Nigeria win the continental championship. He debuted against Togo in August 1990.

Ibadan’s Mutiu Adepoju played for Racing Santander and Real Sociedad in Spain after leaving Real Madrid. He also played for Al-Ittihad for a brief spell in Saudi Arabia before heading to Turkey’s Samsunspor.

“I also have a UEFA Pro licence, so if there is an opportunity, I wouldn’t mind. I am open. I once coached Shooting Stars in Nigeria, but I have not coached since then,” Adepoju said.

“If there is an opportunity, I wouldn’t mind, since I also have a UEFA Pro license,” said the former Real Sociedad midfielder on the Management Madrid podcast.

Mutiu Adepoju is considered one of the best Real Madrid Castilla midfielders of all time. After being scouted during a stellar youth World Cup with Nigeria, the powerful midfielder scored 17 goals from midfield, helping Castilla win the Second Division B title, one of only eleven trophies in their entire history.
