Nabs Police Allegations of Child Traders, Save 12 in IMO

The police operation in IMO has arrested the alleged smuggling of 42 -year -old children and saved 12 children suspected of stealing in the state.

A spokesman for the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, revealed this in a statement on Monday at ITerri.

He said the suspect, a woman, who came from Umudim Ohekelem in the Ngor-Okpala Regional Government in the state, was arrested on June 20, along the Express Street on the Street Operation Dismissal and search.

He added that the arrest of the suspect caused the opening of a disturbing child trading network that was specialized in exploiting minors and using it to beg the streets in Aba, Abia State.

The spokesman said: “After his arrest, the suspect was found with several children whose appearance and condition immediately aroused suspicion.

“As a result, this case was referred to the X-Squad IGP unit for a wise investigation.

“During the interrogation, the suspect claimed to be trading children from Ngor-Okpala to Aba, where they were forced to ask for the streets.

“The suspect also revealed that the results of their activities were allegedly sent to the baby’s home without a mother in Okenyi, the eche area of ​​the local government in the river where he claimed to be employed.

“12 children who are saved age between five and 13 years and all come from various communities in the Ngor-Okpala Regional Government.

“At present, children are in safe detention, and efforts are ongoing in collaboration with related agents to identify and reunite them with their families.”
