An NAF spokesperson said the UAV “had an accident after taking off for a mission.”

Gabkwet said: “A National Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) had an accident after taking off for a mission, at a location near Rumji Village and about 15 Km from Pangkalan. Because it was an unmanned vehicle, there were no casualties inside or on the ground.

“Preliminary investigations have begun to determine what may have caused the accident. Nigerians can be assured that this minor setback will not, in any way, impact any ongoing operations.”
