Nahcon clarifies Nigerian pilgrims who are not affected in Saudi Hotel fires

The Nigerian National Hajj Commission (Nahcon) said that on Saturday no one died in a fire incident at a hotel that accommodated 484 Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

Director of Assistant Director of Information and Publication Nahacon, Hajiya Fatima Usara, made clarification in a statement on Saturday in Jeddah.

He said the fire incident occurred at the Imaratus Sanan Hotel during the day while the Nigerian pilgrims fulfilled the obligations in Mina.

The statement reads: “Nahcon regretted to tell the public about the fire incident that occurred on Saturdays around 12:00 noon (KSA time), at one of the hotels that accommodated Nigerian pilgrims at Shari Mansur Street in Makkah.

“The affected hotel, Imaratus Sanan, hosted around 484 pilgrims from six Nigerian private tour operator companies. Fortunately, there were no lives missing, and all pilgrims were safe in Mina.

“Immediate emergency responses by Saudi authorities and hotel management helps hold fire quickly and prevent them from spreading throughout the building.”
