NAPTIP, ndlea to collaborate in the current war against the section of human beings


The National Agency for the prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NapTP) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have agreed to collaborate in the current war against the section of human beings in the country.

The President and CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Brigadier Gen.Buba Marwa (RETD) has promised a solid cooperation and synergy with its nappip counterpart to help further tightening on traffickers across the country.

The boss of Ndlea gave his promise while receiving the general manager of Naptyp, Binta Adamu Bello, who gave him a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Agency in Abuja.

Marwa, who described the appointment of the general manager of the NaptyP as a strategic step in the fight against the section of human beings in Nigeria, praised it for having transformed the heat on traffickers, hitting the ground in the race, and for its proactive operations and the interventions that led to the arrest of different traffickers and to the rescue of many victims.

The anti-metal tsar while complaining about the difficult situation of the victims of human trafficking in the country, described Naptip as “a very important and critical agency in the fight against the section of human beings in Nigeria” which deserves everyone’s support.

He suggested a mutually agreed legal framework that will define the employment relationship between the two agencies in order to improve joint unwilling operations, sharing intelligence and cooperation.

At the beginning of his speech, the general manager of Naptip, said the visit “was part of the strategic commitment under the Nappip with the key sisters to strengthen institutional collaboration, share knowledge and harmonize our operations in which our mandates intersect.

“This visit also, above all. It represents our desire to deepen the long -standing relationship between our two agencies. In today’s security panorama, the complexity of crime, in particular the organized transnational crime, require that we work in a more close synergy.

“Drug trafficking and human trafficking are increasingly interconnected both global and local level. In many cases, the victims of human trafficking, in particular women and children, are used as drug couriers. Even the victims are drugged or subjected to substances such as the control method, coercion or submission by traffickers. Furthermore, both similar crimes due to qualifying crimes due to qualifying crimes similar.

“Intelligence reports showed overlaps in the networks that operate in both spheres, therefore the urgent need for a coordinated response,” said the general manager of NAPTP.

The highest point of the visit was the establishment of a joint operational team that will improve the collaboration between the two agencies and present at the meeting were directors of both agencies.
