The lawmaker representing Doma South constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Musa Ibrahim, has dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, announced Ibrahim’s defection during a plenary session on Wednesday in Lafia.
Jatau thanked the lawmaker for his wise decision to join the APC in the state.
The speaker pledged to provide inclusive leadership in the House.
Meanwhile, the APC Chairman in the state, Dr. Aliyu Bello, described the lawmaker’s defection as a “homecoming.”
He assured the lawmakers of their rights, privileges and equal treatment within the party.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim said he dumped the NNPP because of the crisis rocking the party at the national level.
“I am writing to inform you of my immediate decision to defect from my old party, NNPP to APC in Nassarawa State.
“As a member of the Nasarawa State House of Representatives, I am obligated to make laws that will impact the lives of my constituents,” he said.
With this development, the APC now has 12 seats, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nine seats, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has three seats respectively.
