Nasarawa United extends the Lead on the NPFL table, shocking blind insurance in Benin

The solid miners continued with their formidable form in the season during the 2025/26 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, ensuring a 0-1 victory against Blessed Insurance the match-day of the Seven at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State, Saturday evening.

Prodigy, Garba Mohammed, came out of the bench in the sign of the hour and lasted thirty -four minutes, before marking the only goal that separated both sides in the 4th minute after the regulation time in the fiercely contested relationship, silencing the fans of the house.

It was the second goal of the wing of the season and the second consecutive victory for the solid miners on the road in this countryside, after winning against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa, about fifteen days ago.

Nasarawa United will return to Lafia, where they will host former league champions, Rangers International FC in Enugu, Sunday 12 October 2025, at the City Lafia stadium, at 16:00, before being hosted by Ikorodu City, in Lagos, a week later.

State Commissioner of Nasarawa for the development of youth and sport, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, rewarded the team with five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000.00), while the president of the club, Mr. Solomon Babanjah, together with an ardent supporter of the team, Mr. Peter Pepsy Anyebe, increased the team’s morality with two hundred thousand Naira (N200,000.00).

“After drawing their last home game, Blessed Insurance was out, looking aggressively of the maximum points today.

“But we continued to resist and push to the last few minutes of extra time and we got the goal.

“I am so happy with the performance of my boys – all credits for them.

“We started slowly in today’s game, but we adapted as the game proceeded and the changes that we made in the second half made many differences.

“We are strongly motivated by all the rounds, starting from the car-motor, from the push of our governor lover of sport, Engr.
