National Junior Swimming Championship takes on Monday in Abuja

Avuja (Reporter Core) Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAQF), with the support of the National Sport Commission, announced the beginning of the national junior swimming championships, “Swim for Life” theme. The championship should take place from Monday 22 to 25 April 2025, at the Mko Abiola National Stadium, the swimming complex of package B, Abuja.

This reference event is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of swimmers in Nigeria and will welcome participants aged between 8 and 14 years of states, clubs and academies. From 23 to 25, for three days, young athletes will show their talent and passion in a structure of a length of 50 meters certified for World Aquatics in Abuja who will participate in a series of swimming disciplines including freestyle, frog, back, butterfly, individual medley and relay.

Speaking in view of the event, Mrs. Chinonye Daphey Aliyu, president of Nigeria Aquatics Federation, expressed her enthusiasm and vision for the championship

β€œThis championship is more than a simple sporting event: it is a movement aimed at promoting water safety, encouraging early participation in swimming, a selection in the national junior team and build a culture of excellence in water sports.

We believe that every child should learn to swim, not only for competition but as a life skills. “Swim for Life” embodies that mission. “

The event will begin with team arrivals and accreditation on April 22, followed by an opening ceremony on April 23, and will clist in a closing ceremony with medal presentations and press April 25.

In particular, all registered participants will receive free accommodation at the athletes’ hostel and meals provided by the Federation.

This championship has enjoyed a mass participation from states, clubs, schools and swimming academy both in Nigeria and abroad to satisfy Diaspora Nigeria who wants a place in the Junior national team.

The recorded teams include; FCT, Lagos State, Kaduna State, Delta State, Edo State

Anambra State, Makosail Swimming Academy, Laurel Swimming Academy, Danaquaswim Academy, De_bebe Swimming Academy, Easy Swim Academy,

Swim Dolphin, Iare Ace Academy, even Swim Academy, Bokun Aquatics, Allfoi Swimmer, Swimkay Academy, Just Swim Academy Ltd, Lakeland School Abuja

Hydroracers and Ikoyi Club Swim Team Lagos.

Nigeria Aquatics Federation invites all interested parties, families, coaches and sports fans to participate and support this era event.

The championship also provides a platform for the discovery of talents, selection in the Junior national team in view of the Junior World Aquatics World Cup in Romania by the end of the year, also aims to promote basic development,

The Federation asks the collaboration of all interested parties to make it a success and support the development of swimming in Nigeria.
