National Security Challenges: I COAN LOP for the NDC paridipants for innovative solutions

Abuja (basic reporter) The head of the army staff (Coas), the lieutenant general Olufemi Oluyede, praised the course 33 of the participants in the National Defense College (NDC) for offering innovative solutions to the challenges of national security.

He praised on Friday 25 July 2025, at the conference room of the Army headquarters during the presentation of the Coas research document by the participants, in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the premium of the prestigious defense partner (FDC).

The research document, entitled “Direct energy and national security weapons: strategic options for NA by 2040”, explores the potential of energy weapons directed to improve national security.

The COA applauded the participants for their futuristic thought and an innovative approach to face emerging security challenges. He urged them not to yield, but to continue developing practical solutions, observing that college remains a citadel of military strategy and development of skills.

The head of the army also accused the Department of Transformation and Innovation of the Army to further exploit its skills and guarantee a solid collaboration with the parties concerned relevant in the development of the skills.

Speaking during the presentation, the commander of the National Defense College, the contractor James Okosun, observed that the college formation modules provide a way to participants to interrogate the main contemporary security and development challenges, in particular those who have an impact on the operational efficiency and the effectiveness of the armed forces of Nigeria.

The commander revealed that the COA had previously appointed the course of 33 participants to search for topics and propose practicable strategies that could have a significant impact on the Nigerian army (NA) in the near future, therefore the presentation by the members of the course.

He expressed a profound appreciation to the COA for his immense support for the NDC, in particular for the approval of the research topic, and has promised a continuous collaboration with Na.

Previously in the presentation, the course representative, Colonel Obinna Eke, underlined that exploiting advanced technology has become crucial to contrast emerging threats. He observed that global tendencies have created a precedent clear for the growing adoption of these technologies for the protection of strength.

He added that with the efforts in progress to modernize the NA and align with global trends in national defense, the military are well positioned to develop a roadmap for the deployment of these skills, in line with the modernization trends of global and regional defense.

The participants in the NDC 33 course include 99 people taken from the armed forces of Nigeria, ministries, departments and agencies, as well as allied participants of African and non -African countries.
