NCDC urged the state to step when Lassa Fever died up

The Center for Nigerian Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has urged the state government to strengthen the involvement of the community to curb the spread of Lassa fever in this country.

In his latest situation report for Sunday 31 which was released on Wednesday, the agency confirmed nine new cases in Ondo, Edo, and Taraba, up from three reported on the previous week.

This, according to the NCDC, brought the total number of cases confirmed to 836 in 21 states and 105 regional government areas in the country.

The latest 18.7 percent case mortality rate was higher than 17.3 percent recorded in the same period in 2024.

The agency said the country had recorded 156 deaths from disease in 2025.

NCDC 90 percent of confirmed cases recorded in five states: Ondo (33 percent), Bauchi (23 percent), Edo (17 percent), Taraba (14 percent), and Ebonyi (3 percent).

It is said that the most affected age group is 21-30 years, with more men than infected women.

NCDC noted that there was no new infection among health workers that occurred on the reporting week.
