The NDDC representative ensures athletes a better reward after the tournament, says that NDDC will not download them or forget them if they win medals for the state.*
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Wednesday 2 April reported an inaugural edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom.
The sports festival with the theme “Beyond Oil, taking advantage of the talent” was declared open by the president and commander of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu skillfully represented by President National Sports Commission, Alhaji Shehu Dikko and assisted by the Minister of Regional Development, Hon Abubakar Momoh (MNSE).
Giving himself to the IMO contingents in the Flag headquarters, the representative of the state of the IMDCC state, Hon Dr Kyrian c Uchegbu urged all IMO athletes to prepare to make the state proud during the festival.
However, IMO could have strong opponents from other States of the NDDC with which to compete, the representative of the NDDC soul has claimed to be very optimistic about the fact that the IMO team will emerge strong and will come out victorious in the flying colors and make our state and the government of Sen hopes that Uzodinma again proud again.
This is a huge opportunity provided by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and I want to encourage everyone to take it seriously. From here, talents could be discovered for national and international competitions, “he said
He urged the imo athletes to target and work very hard to overcome the medals table since the NDDC will not download them or forget them after winning medals for the state.
He observed that the 3R administration of the governor hopes that Uzodinma remains engaged in the development of sport and urged all the athletes of the soul to return the gentle gesture and the opportunity offered to them by the governor to represent the state making the state proud of the games, ensuring that the 3r government of sen Hope Uzodinma will receive and reward all the medicines as soon as the competition is finished.
IMO cannot participate in this festival without winning any medal and I assure you that for each gold, silver or bronze medal, there will be a reward. The NDDCC and the State Governor will receive you immediately after the games and we will reward all the winners, “he said.
He appealed to all IMO athletes who may have participated in the pre-qualification/ test phase, but were not favored to get to the inaugural edition not to feel discouraged or demoralized but to remain patient and continue to support the government of the day as NDDC intends to make the sports festival an annual event.
He urged all the IMO athletes participating in staying concentrated, united and engaged as this will give them their hands superior to the tournament on their competitors.
Some IMO athletes who spoke to the media thanked the representative of the IMDCC State for its unshakable support and commitment to the IMO team and noted that they are adequately physically and mentally prepared to have a positive impact on the sports festival.
“Our goal is to win all the medals at the tournament, because IMO has a record vouchers when it comes to sport and our goal is to keep that record.
Over 300 athletes represent IMO in 17 sports at the Niger Delta Sports Festival starting from 1 to 9 April 2025 in various centers in the state of Akwa Ibom.
