The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the sudden death of its commander of the state of the cross river, Ogbonna Maurice Uzoma.
Uzoma, who recently took On the leadership of the agency’s cross river command, he resumed duty on August 18, 2025 and took temporary accommodation in a hotel in Calabar, waiting for when he settled in a charge.

The report of his death was brought to the attention of the Agency’s President/CEO, the Brigan Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (RTD), to Maiduguri, in the state of Borno, where he was participating in a retreat for heads of agencies, organized by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Confirming the sad developments in a declaration on Friday, he declared the spokesman for the Ndlea, Femi Babafemi βOgbonna got up and made her new command and was tiring to lead her officers in some commitments scheduled at 10 on Thursday 18 September 2025, but when her officers did not hear him 9, they went to his hotel room in the company of the hotel staff while several shots at his door and called his telephone line did not go useless.

βThe police command in the state was promptly notified after the police commissioner personally visited the scene while the police continue with the investigations on the cause of death.
“To assist the police investigations, the Agency’s president/CEO directed the Zonal commander, the command of zone 14 of Ndlea, ACgn Mathew Ewah, to move to Calabar.
“While commissioning the family of the deceased senior officer, Marwa said that the agency is with the family in this difficult moment and prayed that God will comfort them and grants the disappeared eternal rest.”
