The Command of the Edo State of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed two cannabis farms in a recent operation aimed at interrupting the supply chain of illegal drugs in the state.
Speaking in Benin City during a briefing printing on the May of the Command results, the state commander Mitchell Ofoyeju revealed that the farms were located in the forests of Uzebba and Ohosu, which cross the areas of the local government of Owan West and Ovia South East.
The farms covered a combined area of 0.782961 hectares, with 0.265874 hectares deleted in Uzebba and 0.517087 hectares in Ohosu.

Commander Diyeju explained that the destruction of the farms is part of the agency’s strategy to face the abuse of drugs to its source. “If there are no collections, traffickers will not have access to the products,” he said.
He stressed that the fight against cultivation and drug trafficking is essential to protect local economies, attract investments and reduce the burden for law enforcement and health systems.
As part of its wider campaign, Ndlea is also taking the War Against Drug Abuse (Wada) initiative to schools, churches and mosques, targeting young adults and teenagers with education and awareness programs.
