Ndlea intercepts drugs -forbidden drugs packed as green tea at Lagos Airport

The National Medicine Law Enforcement Agency (Ndlea), has intercepted the delivery of illegal drugs that are packaged as green tea in the import warehouse of Murtala Muhammated International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos.

A statement on Sunday by the Director, Media & Advocacy Agency, Femi Babafemi, stated that confiscation carried out on Thursday, June 5, 2025, was based on credible intelligence received before the arrival of shipping at the airport cargo wing on May 11.

“No less than sixty -six (66) loud packages, strong marijuana strains, are packaged as green tea have been intercepted by the operators of the National Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammame (MMIA) Ikeja International Airport Import Warehouse, Lagos,” Babafemi said.

Continuing, Ndlea spokesman said:
“Ndlea has directed delivery, and maintains surrounding supervision for more than three weeks before inviting other stakeholders for a joint examination last Thursday.

“A hard consignment weighing 62.20kg was hidden in a green tea pack that came from Thailand through the UAE on the Emirate Airlines flight.

“In other operations in Lagos, Ndlea operators on Monday, June 2, intercepted the delivery of 1,665kg Sigung, cannabis strain, along the expressway lekki. Two suspects: Gidado Abdulrataq Ayinde and Obanla Oluwafemi were immediately arrested related to that arrested.

“In Kaduna, the operators of the Ndlea State Command with patrols along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway on Tuesday, June 3, captured the 29-year-old Nnaemeka Goodluck with 612 Codeine-Based Syrup Bottles and 2,970 Fluyitrazepam pills.

“In another operation of the same day, a drug dealer sought by 52 -year -old Kabiru Musa (aka KB), was arrested in Kurmin Mashi. As many as 25.7kg sigung was previously found from his base.

“While a total of 9kg hard was found from the spare tire compartment from the Audi station car marked by AAA 975 XU driven by Atari Israel, 45, along Auchi Road, Edo State, two young women: Favor Joy and Joy Igwe on Tuesday, June 3, were arrested in the Ikpoba Bukit Ikpoba area in the Benin hill area.

“Recovered from them including: 106,57kg skunk; 1 kg hard; 800grams colorado and 302 grams of metamfetamine.”
