The Operation of the National Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency (Ndlea) has arrested former international soccer player, Sebun George Hunkarin along with his fellow entrepreneurs, Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu, when trying to smuggle cocaine delivery to Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammame International Airport, (MMIA) Ike.
Director of the Agency, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who revealed this in a statement on Sunday, said Chinedu who was often a leaflet, was an importer of clothing from Turkey to Nigeria and food ingredients from Nigeria to Turkey.
According to Babafemi, Chinedu was the first person arrested at his arrival at Lagos Airport on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
“The search for his tote bag revealed 37 packs of cocaine weighing 800 grams hidden in it,” he said.

“Investigations showed that the suspect came from Türkiye with an Ethiopian Airlines flight but transit through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he gathered luggage from others before heading to Nigeria.
“Further examination revealed that the accomplice which turned out to be a former professional soccer player, Segun Hunkarin, was waiting for Chinedu in the airport parking lot to collect shipments from him. Hunkarin who had lived for years in Brazil played for a soccer club, immediately tracked and captured in the park.
“In his statement, Hunkarin claimed that while playing professional football in South America, he only had drugs that were doubled from Brazil to Ethiopia but had never brought anything to Nigeria.
“Another European -based businessman, Amin Okoro Godstime, is on Friday 27 June, captured by Ndlea operators at Lagos Airport when trying to traffic 5,000 Tramadol 225MG pills is packaged as known malaria medicine such as Lonart, Amteme and Aluktem to Spain.
