Ndlea rejects the trend of Nigerian Hajj photos released in Saudi

The National National Law Enforcement Agency (Ndlea) has clarified that the photos of three new Nigerian pilgrims were released by Saudi Authorities that were circulating were not authentic.

The Director of the Media and Advocacy Ndlea, Femi Babafemi, made clarification in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Babafemi said the agency observed that following a report on the release of three Nigerian pilgrims who were innocent by Saudi authorities, several media outlets had published unrelated images and presented them as victims.

“To avoid doubts, the images currently circulating are not from three Nigerians detained in Jeddah.

“In line with the standards received globally about the protection of human rights, privacy, and dignity of the victims of the incident, the agency deliberately refrained from publishing or releasing their photos at each stage of public communication about the problem,” he said.

The spokesperson explained that the decision was taken to protect pilgrims from non -expression of publicly and allow them to integrate back to the community without stigma.

He, however, said the agency appreciated the role of the media as a vital partner in the dissemination of information and public enlightenment.

Babafemi urges all news platforms to stop using images that can wrongly describe facts or compromise the dignity of innocent people.
