Ndume warned of religious profiles when Boko Haram’s attacks increased

The Senator, who represented Borno South, Ali Ndume, has warned of the Boko Haram rebellion in religious terms, warning that the violence of terror groups crosses faith and ethnicity.

MPs issued the warning in a statement on Wednesday after a new attack in Ngoshe Village in the Gwoza regional government and the Mussa Community in the Askira-UBA regional government area in Borno State.

During the weekend, eight people were killed in a separate incident. Five Muslim farmers were killed in Ngoshe on Saturday, while three Christians were killed in Mussa on Sunday. In the last attack, houses and shops were also burned.

Ndume described the murder as “heartbreaking and very painful,” paying honors to troops under the Hadin Kai operation which continues to face the rebels. He promised to encourage improved security steps, including additional personnel, better weapons, and stronger intelligence collection to protect vulnerable rural communities.

Senator, the former Chairman of the Senate Committee for the Army, also expressed disappointment over the report that showed that all victims were Christians, calling such narration unethical and dangerous.

“The power behind this murder is blind to faith and ethnicity. We must avoid this dangerous profile that can distract us and more dangerous. It can even ignite negative passion for our soldiers and reduce the morals of those who work tirelessly to defeat this sect,” he warned.

Furthermore, emphasizing that ordinary citizens, regardless of religion, remain the biggest victim of the rebellion. He praised the military for his sustainable efforts and urged the federal government to prioritize the welfare of troops and provide adequate weapons and ammunition to end the conflict.
