Victor Osimhen made a prompt return to Napoli immediately following his triumph at the African Footballer of the Year award ceremony in Marrakech on Monday.

The celebrated striker, who outshone Achraf Hakimi and Mohammed Salah for the prestigious accolade, rejoined his teammates in Naples after skipping Monday’s training session.

Osimhen, with six goals in 11 Serie A appearances this season, is poised to take the field in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting Braga.

Despite his domestic success, the striker is yet to find the net in the Champions League during the 2023-24 campaign.

Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri is anticipated to include Osimhen in the attacking lineup alongside Matteo Politano and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Italian champions, grappling with a lackluster home record this season, aim to turn the tide with a strong performance at the Stadio Maradona.

So far, the team has secured just one point in two Champions League matches and suffered four losses in the initial seven Serie A games.
