In view of the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC), scheduled for Wednesday 27 May 2025, the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) on Thursday made a move to strengthen security to its national secretariat.
In a declaration made available for the project in Abuja, his national acting secretary, Arch Setonji Koshodedo, was saddened to reorganize the party’s safety structure before the event.
Among the other moves, he carried out some internal redistributions, including the publication of expert staff to direct the security department,
The declaration states in part: “The reorganization in the course of the security structure in view of the NEC meeting was praised by the party leaders and by the members as a right step by the Amb. Iliya Damagum led by NWC to restore safety and reassure safety at the national secretariat of the party.
“The national secretary of acting also directed other security measures, including the screening of visitors and the regulation of the activities of non -business operations within the party secretariat.
“The safety steps of the interim secretary came after his inspection of the security architecture and structures at the secretariat after a meeting with the staff of the party on Monday 5 May 2025, where the staff expressed serious concerns about their safety due to the continuous violations of security at the secretariat, including the invasion by strange faces and unauthorized armed people.
βThe staff also mentioned a worrying episode in which the members of the National Work Committee were attacked by invaders who also tried to prevent party officials and other interested parties from gaining access to the secretariat.
“They also connected frightening experiences in which the invaders issued threats for them and prevented them from accessing the complex.
“In addition, the Foundation Council of the PDP (BOT) also raised concerns about the security violations that led to the interruption of its meeting at the beginning of this year and decided not to meet at the party secretariat until the safety was restored.
βIn addition, for safety efforts, a committee is proposed as suggested in the staff meeting to investigate violations passed at the National Party Secretariat for a more effective reorganization.
“The current reorganization, which is welcome by the leaders, members and party staff, will strengthen and reassure safety at the secretariat, in particular in advance of the expected increase in activities in the party”,
