The equity market kicked off the new trading week on a bearish note on Monday, August 19, 2024 as investors lost N746 billion by the end of the trading session.
This follows the decline in stock prices such as DANGCEM, NSLTECH AFRIPRUD and others on the trading floor.
After five hours of trading in the capital market, equity capitalization decreased to IDR54,381 trillion from IDR55,131 trillion recorded by the exchange on Friday, August 16, 2024.
The All Share Index (ASI) also fell to 95,779.79 from 97,100.31 recorded on the previous trading day.
Market breadth was positive as 31 stocks advanced and 18 stocks declined, while 66 stocks remained unchanged in 9,291 trades.
CUTIX, RT BRISCOE and SKYAVN led other gainers with their share prices growing by 10% to close at N2.64, N1.87 and N26.40 respectively from previous prices of N2.40, N1.70 and N24.00 per share.
On the other hand, DANGCEM, NSLTECH AFRIPRUD led other price decliners as they fell by 10%, 9.76%, 9.68% respectively to close at N532.00, N0.37 and N8.40 from initial prices of N591.10, N0.41 and N9.30 per share.
On the volume index, GTCO led the trading with 59 million shares worth N2.727 billion in 338 deals followed by WEMABANK which traded 25 million shares in 465 deals worth N155 million.
ACCESSCORP traded 24 million shares worth N471 million in 647 transactions.
On the value index, GTCO recorded the highest value for daily traded shares worth N2.727 billion in 338 transactions followed by ZENITHBANK which traded equities worth N534 million in 527 transactions.
UBA traded shares worth N529 million in 506 transactions.
