NGX: The equity market has fallen further because investors lose the N781BN in five hours

The Nigerian equity market fell further on Thursday because investors lost the N781 billion at the close of trading that day.

This follows the decline in the price price of the University Press PLC, International Energy Insurance, and Thomas Wyatt PLC, among others, on the trading floor.

The Benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) fell to 140,332.44 points from 141,566.30 points recorded on the previous day.

After five hours of trading in the capital market, the capitalization of equity crashed into the N88,783 trillion from N89,564 trillion recorded by Bourse on Wednesday.

The extent of the negative market, with 18 advanced shares, 51 shares declined, and the remaining 87 shares did not change in 25,891 offers.

Skye Shelter Fund PLC, Jaiz Bank PLC, and safe electronic technology leads other strengthening with each price growth of 9.99%, 9.75%, and 9.38%, respectively, closed in N274.15, N4.39, and N1.05 per share, up from the previous N249.25, N4.00, and N1.96 per share.

University press PLC, International Energy Insurance, and Thomas Wyatt PLC led other prices with a decrease in stock prices of 10% to be closed on N6.30, N3.24, and N3.33 from the previous N7.00, N3.60, and N3.70 per share.

In the volume index, Fidelity Bank PLC led trade with 96 million shares in 556 agreements, followed by Veritas Kapital Assurance PLC, which was traded 36 million shares in 404 agreements.

Universal Insurance PLC trade 32 million shares in 424 agreements.

In the value index, the Fidelity Bank PLC shares that were traded worth N1.9 billion in 556 agreements, followed by MTN Nigeria (MTNN), which traded equity worth N1.1 billion in 1,055 agreements.

Stanbic IBTC PLC traded shares worth N1 billion in 238 agreements.
