Nigeria deported 51 foreigners for cyberspace crimes

The federal government has sent 51 foreign citizens who were punished for cyberspace terrorism, internet fraud, and other crimes.

This operation was coordinated by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS).

The Commission confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Deported foreigners include 50 Chinese and one Tunisia.

The latest developments bring the number of foreigners sent home to their homeland since August 15 to 102.

The Federal Government, on August 17, deported 42 out of 192 Chinese and the Philippines who were sentenced by the Federal High Court, Lagos, to their home country.

EFCC arrested 759 people, including several foreigners, during a large -attack on Jalan Oyin Jolayemi, Victoria Island, Lagos, on December 10, 2024.

The statement reads: “The convicts are among 192 foreign nationals arrested during the sting operation in Lagos following intelligence that can be followed up on the operation of one of the syndicates of cyberspace crime led by foreign in Nigeria.

“Further deportation is scheduled in the coming days.”
