Nigeria, Gates Foundation Signature Reference agreement for the EIA downsizing HUB – Thage

The Federal Government has launched the HUB of downsizing the artificial intelligence of Nigeria (AI), in collaboration with the Gates Foundation, to accelerate responsible development and the expansion of solutions led by the AI ​​who improve life and expand opportunities to key sectors such as health, agriculture and education.

The initiative was announced during the signing of a Memorandum of understanding (Mou) between the Federal Ministry of Communications, innovation and the digital economy and the Gates Foundation, held in Abuja.

The Gates Foundation supports Nigeria downsizing HUB with a commitment of $ 7.5 million for a period of three years.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Communications, innovation and the digital economy, dr. Bosun Tijani has highlighted the progress made by the federal government in the adoption of the AI, including the recent drafting of the national artificial intelligence strategy, developed to guarantee its responsible deployment.

Dr. Tijani has described both personal and national moment. β€œThis is a significant milestone for us. We are not just adopting technology; we are modeling it to serve our people, face real challenges and unlock the full potential of Nigeria under the guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Working with the Gates Foundation, we are strengthening our ability to ensure that AI -based solutions are developed responsibly and distributed equally. The ES’s downsizing hub will act as a catalyst for Nigerian innovators, providing the resources, tutoring and support necessary to translate the ideas into impact,” he said
