The Federal Government has launched the HUB of downsizing the artificial intelligence of Nigeria (AI), in collaboration with the Gates Foundation, to accelerate responsible development and the expansion of solutions led by the AI who improve life and expand opportunities to key sectors such as health, agriculture and education.
The initiative was announced during the signing of a Memorandum of understanding (Mou) between the Federal Ministry of Communications, innovation and the digital economy and the Gates Foundation, held in Abuja.
The Gates Foundation supports Nigeria downsizing HUB with a commitment of $ 7.5 million for a period of three years.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Communications, innovation and the digital economy, dr. Bosun Tijani has highlighted the progress made by the federal government in the adoption of the AI, including the recent drafting of the national artificial intelligence strategy, developed to guarantee its responsible deployment.
Dr. Tijani has described both personal and national moment. “This is a significant milestone for us. We are not just adopting technology; we are modeling it to serve our people, face real challenges and unlock the full potential of Nigeria under the guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Working with the Gates Foundation, we are strengthening our ability to ensure that AI -based solutions are developed responsibly and distributed equally. The ES’s downsizing hub will act as a catalyst for Nigerian innovators, providing the resources, tutoring and support necessary to translate the ideas into impact,” he said

Nigeria’s downsizing hub is a multi-stakeholder initiative that will coordinate the downsizing of mature artificial intelligence solutions in the country. The hub is convenient for government agencies, the technology of the private sector. It offers a model on how governments and partners can work together to reduce the innovations that improve health results, improve educational systems and increase agricultural productivity, ensuring that digital transformation benefits all Nigerians.
The investment of the Gates Foundation highlights the global trust in the ecosystem of Nigeria innovation and strengthens the commitment of the Tinubu-He feature to build a far-sighted economy fueled by local talents, inclusive digital access and local solutions.
