Nigeria Para- Team Smash 19 Medals at the African Grand Prix in Tunisia
… the president of the PCN OYEBODE praises NSC for improved financing
Abuja (Core reporter) The Olympics Committee of Nigeria, PCN, has attributed the recent success of the Nigeria team to the Grand Grand Prix in Tunisia for the intentional support that the National Sports Commission (NSC) is giving to the country’s para-Sport.
These were the observations of the President of the PCN, Sunday Odebode, while he had fun in the execution of the country’s para-athletes in Tunisia, where Nigeria closed in second place ever on 42 countries present at the competition.
“The NSC under the guidance of the president, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the general manager, Hon Bukola Olopade, led the support given to people who live with disabilities at another level”.
“We have never had so good in the past in which the Commission is not only supporting us financially, but also assists us in every technical way to be successful both with our international and national competitions”.
“This is the reason why it is given a lot, there is a lot and athletes have not disappointed in Tunisia and have made the country proud of their performance. We will also be interested in knowing that due to their release in Tunisia, Nigeria has been able to guarantee the qualification for the world championship in India by the end of the year and has also launched various points for the Commonwealth games and Los Angeles games.”
Odebode also greets the commission for his beneficiary of his program and the campsite who are all oriented towards the podium in both Commonwealth games next year and the Los Angeles Olympics of 2028.
“The Commission has also made our various programs very easy to perform due to the attention and funding we are currently obtaining from them. If you observe, the para-lifters have just ended their processes. We have discovered 10 new athletes there and now they will go to Santiago, Chile, for the world tournament”.
“And the para-athletes will also open their field this month. We also have basketball for wheelchairs that is also prepared for the Commonwealth games and even our para-Swimmer will open the field this month. All these would not have been possible except for the new NSC financing approach”.
The Nigeria team ended the championship with an impressive transport of medals of 19, of which 10 are gold, 6 are silver and 3 are bronze medals.
