On Monday, President Bola Tinubu arrived in Brasilia, Brazil, asking for a renewed diplomatic and economic cooperation between Nigeria and the South American nation.
In a post on his official management X, Tinubu described his meeting with Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as a renewal of the “historical relationship” between the two countries.
He expressed his willingness to strengthen collaboration in agriculture, energy, trade and culture, underlining the need for shared prosperity through the Atlantic.
“Today’s commitment marks the renewal of the historical relationship between Nigeria and Brazil. I can’t wait to work with President Lula to deepen cooperation in agriculture, energy, trade and culture, towards the construction of a future of shared prosperity through the Atlantic”, wrote Tinubu.
The Nigerian leader, who flew from Los Angeles, in the United States, was received in the Air Base of Brazilia by high Brazilian officials, including the ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, the secretary for Africa and the Middle East and the ambassador Carlos José Areias Garcete, the important Brazilian in Nigeria.
The Minister of State of Nigeria for foreign affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, was also part of the reception team.
