Newly appointed Nigeria Under-20 team coach Aliyu Zubairu said he has opened up about the inclusion of foreign players in his squad as they step up preparations for the WAFU tournament, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Currently honing his selection for the tournament and also trying to build a team, the coach who faces a race against time to get his team ready for the tournament touched on a bit about their preparations so far.

While admitting that it is a difficult task to try to form a team before settling on a pattern of play, the coach said he will call on some foreign players who were part of Ladan Bosso’s last team that made it to the quarter-finals of the U-20 World Cup. The team also won the WAFU tournament.

“I will call up some players who are abroad and who are part of the team, because we cannot build on anything due to the lack of time available for us to form a team, but they have to be within the age range to play in this team,” said the coach.

Three players from the team he mentioned who are still in Nigeria have already been part of his plans: Daniel Daga, Daniel Bameyi and Ibrahim Abdullahi.
