Nigeria urges Israel, Iran to exercise regional and global peace brake
Abuja (basic reporter) The Federal Government of Nigeria expressed concern about the current hostilities between the state of Isreal and the Republic of Iran and has asked for an immediate cessation of hostilities that push both sides to exercise maximum moderation in the interest of regional and global peace.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Kimiebi IMOMOTIMI Ebienfa in a Saturday declaration said that the continuous cycle of retaliation not only endangers civil life, but threatens to immerse the wider Middle East in further instability, with implications for international security and economic development.
The declaration states in some parts: “As a nation deeply engaged in the principles of peaceful coexistence, non-aggression and multilateral diplomacy, Nigeria invites all the people involved to give priority to the dialogue on comparison. In particular, the international community, in particular the United Nations Security Council, to intensify the efforts for the immediate de-Escalation and to provide a platform for construction.
“We reiterate that military action is not a replacement for negotiation. The path for lasting peace lies in diplomacy, in mutual respect and in adhesion to international law. Nigeria is ready to support all authentic efforts to de-Escalation of tensions and promote peace in the region,” he said.
