Nine people die, 11 more wounds in Jigawa road accident

A tragic road accident caused the life of nine people and left another 11 injured in the village of Kyaramma, the area of ​​the local government of Ringim in the state of Jigawa, in the early hours of Saturday 7 June 2025.

The spokesman for the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shisu Adam, confirmed the accident in a press statement.

He said the accident occurred around 2:00 in the morning when two Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicles collided frontally.

According to preliminary investigations, one of the vehicles, with the MKA 687 AY registration number, was led by Adamu Sunusi by Hadejia LGA and was traveling from Abuja to Gujungu.

The second vehicle, recorded as Kwl 606 Ka, was led by Bashari Danjummai of Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, and headed from Hadejia to Kano.

“After reaching the village of Kyaramma, the two vehicles collided, with consequent immediate death of nine people, including both drivers,” reads the declaration.

The injuries have been running to the Ringim General Hospital, where they are currently receiving care. The medical staff confirmed the death of the nine passengers on arrival.

The post mortem exams were completed and the deceased was delivered to their families for burial.

Efforts are underway to identify all the victims and contact their next relatives.

The police commissioner of Jigawa, CP of Abdullahi, expressed deep condolences to the families in mourning and wished the injured a rapid recovery.

He also invited motorists to observe traffic laws, avoid acceleration and ensure that their vehicles are in good condition to help prevent these fatal accidents.
