It is no longer a novelty that we are entering the final games of the season in which the teams will do everything possible to achieve their desired goals.
The exchanges for the teams fighting for the Super 8 slot are already underway, while the teams that make their way through the waters of relegation are not excluded.
The battle for those who arrive in the playoffs and those who go to the lower League is the one that experts have observed with acute interest as it is strongly contested. Unfortunately also, consequently, some fans have been overcome by emotions and the clubs have been sanctioned for their actions.
Just recently, the nnl hammer has fallen on Godswill Akpabio FC of Uyo and Barau FC of Kano for attacking matches officials.
While Godswill Akpabio FC was accused of aggression of matches of the matches after a meeting of the Matchday 15 against the Rovers FC in Calabar which ended 2-2 at the Uyo Township stadium on April 26, 2025. The team was fined for the sum of N3.000.000 who must be paid before the next game, Godswill FC must also play two games in the house.
A further sum of N250,000 as medical invoices for the aggressive officials of the match and Austin Ajibawo, who was warned for the physical intimidation of the first assistant referee during the interval interval was suspended for two games. Furthermore, the FA of the Ibom of Akwa was also given only seven days to identify the names of the attackers or show evidence of disciplinary actions taken against them.
Barau FC was sanctioned for the infringement during their home game against United Gombe at the Danbatta Township Stadium on April 26. It was established that fans of the home team started launching missiles on the Technical bench of United Gombe since the first half, which caused some injuries and led to the abandonment of the game for 15 minutes in the game that ended up winning from 2 nill.
The nnl o & d has imposed a fine of the sum of N2.000.000 and a further sum of N150,000 for the medical bills to be paid to the aggressive officials of Gombe United and also play the next two home games under the rigid closed doors.
The implications meant that Barau FC would pay the fine of โฆ 2,150,000 and would play the next two games at home behind closed doors.
The NNL, as an organ that has sworn to protect the integrity of the League, must guarantee that the judgment of the O & D nnl is completely obeyed by the teams. Supporting this sentence, the organism of the League clarifies that they are the right and Equi and they will not even hesitate to disappoint the hammer in any club in error. This also shows that no club will be favored with respect to the other.
It is interesting to note that there is a great clash involving Barau FC and other Wikki tourists who chase the promotion. This is a great test that nnl should pass, ensuring that the game is played strictly behind closed doors, respecting the decision of the NNL O & D as this decision has not been canceled by the Committee for the appeals of the Football Nigeria Federation.
As the League gradually runs out and the games and leap become intense, the NNL must rise to the occasion to preserve the integrity of the League and the power of their judgments.
Fair play and the spirit of sportiness are the name of the game and it is expected that every stakeholder in Nigerian football must support the agenda of fair play and the integrity of the executive advice led by Alhaji Gusau.
