Nnpc boss, ojulari: powerful elements that conspire to remove me from the office – Thage

The CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, he said that his life and those of some members of the company management are serious.

Ojulari launched the alarm on Thursday while he received a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, led by its president, the companion Festus Osfo, at the headquarters of the NNPC in Abuja.

The statement comes just 24 hours after a coalition of the young leaders of Niger Delta asked for his resignation for alleged corruption and bad management.

From his appointment in April 2025, Ojulari has faced multiple accusations, including the bad management of NNPC funds, fraud and connections to the businessman Bashir-Haske, it is said that it is a narrow partner and father-in-law of the former vice-president Atiku Abubakar. Critics accuse him of using the businessman to recycle billions of Naira from society.

Speaking during the meeting, Ojulari said that his “offense” was the reforms introduced in line with the mandate of President Bola Tinubu to revive the dying refineries of the nation.

“These are the reforms that we are introducing. I don’t hide from anyone. I am not a politician. I will have to learn a little more on politics, but this is a development plan for me and I am ready to learn,” he said.

He stressed that, despite the threats to his life and those of his team, he was committed to ensuring that refineries work effectively.

Ojulari also reiterated that the company was taking into consideration the adoption of the GNL Nigeria model as part of its strategy to restore the refineries of the nation to full capacity and guarantee efficiency and sustainability.
