No suspected of Boko Haram arrested in Lagos

The police command in the state of Lagos dispelled a publication in some newspapers of April 17, 2025, stating that hundreds of suspicions of Boko Haram were arrested in Lagos.

The command spokesperson, the CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confused this in a declaration on Friday in Lalagos.

He said that following the publication, the police commissioner in the state, the CP Olohundare Jimh, directed an immediate investigation on the report to ascertain the real position of the complaint.

“The result of the investigation reveals that there is no place in the whole state of Lagos that the group mentioned in the report – Boko Haram – has been seen or sighted or arrested.

“In addition, in the communities of the trailer of the park mentioned, the leaders, the operators and drivers in the places indicated in the report clarified to the police that there were not such elements of Boko Haram seen or arrested in those locations.

“The command, despite the detectives of the undervieing police, the Lagos State Police Intelligence Department (SID) and other formations of the strength to the places mentioned for the purpose of verifying the complaint.

“Nobody confirmed the presence or arrest of these group members as reported in the State of Lagos.

“Therefore, the relationship in its entirety is false, mischievous and poorly intended to cause fear and apprehension in the minds of the public,” he said.

Hundeyin has unjust the residents to ignore and discard the comment as a false and a fruit of the writer’s imagination, which was very unfortunate and despicable and should be completely ignored.

“The members of the public are encouraged by the police commissioner to carry out their duties and other means of sustenance without fear or apprehension,” he said.

The manufacturer of images has unjust to the media not to allow the use of their esteemed publications to encourage false news and falsehoods that could jeopardize peace and tranquility by enjoying the state.

“We recommend the writer of the story to verify the facts and the truth of any information before going to the press,” he said.

The spokesman has ensured the residents of their safety and the commitment of the police for the protection of lives and properties in the state.

He encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or call the control room at 08063299264. (Nan)
