No teacher with criminal records will remain in class – TRCN

The registration council of Nigeria (TRCN) teachers reiterated its commitment to strengthen the development and professionalism of the teachers, warning that “no teacher with a judicial box will be allowed to stay in class”.

TRCN’s state coordinator of Kaduna, Esther Natsa, declared this during the ceremony of spreading the certificate for literacy and fundamental numbering organized by plane.

Natsa, represented by Nafisa Abbas, explained that the Council was working with the police to enforce its new framework of the ethics and the verification of the Criminal.

He said the measure was aimed at safeguarding schools ensuring that teachers with questionable records are removed from the system.

“Our classrooms must remain safe for the students, and anyone who has been found with a judicial box did not place in the profession of teaching,” he said.

At the event, Kaduna State Team was led for the plane, Diana Agabi, revealed that over 700 teachers were seated for the basic literacy and numbering exams, of which 504 passed and received the TRCN certification.

He said that the certification adds their professional credit pursuant to TRCN and that the process was carried out using digital platforms such as WhatsApp to encourage peer-to-peer sharing among teachers.

“Teachers on the platform exchange strategies on how to improve teaching and learning, the management of students with disabilities and face the challenges they meet in the classrooms. The initiative is helping to develop teachers’ ability and improve results in schools.”

TRCN has also highlighted reforms such as the career path policy, the MCPD program (Continuing Proprienge Development) and the recently launched TRCN digital portal, which “simplifies the registration of teachers, licenses and certification” at national level.
