NRC Debunks Report on Vandalization of Lagos-Ibadan Standard Measuring Pathways

Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has eliminated the prejudice of a report on the Vandalization of the Lagos-Ibadan standard measuring pathway.

NRC Implementing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, made clarification in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Public Relations Officer, Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, on Saturday at Lagos.

He said: “NRC management has observed with a concern of a report published on the internet, which claims that the troublemaker invaded part of the Lagos-Ibadan railroad project worth $ 1.5 billion.

“It is said that the charms have stolen the main components of the railroad project which was inaugurated by the late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021.”

Opeifa, who praised the house of the media because it attracted attention to the economic penyabot activities that endangered railroad operations, but noted that the video mentioned in the report was old.

He emphasized that the incident did not occur in the lagos-abandan standard measuring corridor.

“The documented notes show that this action was recorded twice in August (between August 7 and August 27, 2024) at Kilometer 218 (Erunmu, Ibadan) where 250 clips were damaged, and at Kilometer 221 (Erunmu, Ibadan) where 16 short and one additional short tracks were transported.

“Also, on September 9, 2004, 280 other clip E, including two poles, was stolen at kilometer 219 (Erunmu, Ibadan).

“This incident triggered direct intervention by the company through community involvement involving the Head of Erunmu Village, the vigilante group and the police.

“The sensitization campaign is also held at the Agodi Gate, targeting used metal dealers, to curb the purchase of stolen railroad material which is a critical national asset,” added the NRC BOS.
