The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced a suspension of 72 hours operations on the Warra-Itokpe train route following a technical failure of the engine.
This was disclosed in a shared declaration on Thursday by the NRC CEO, Kayode Opeifa, through its X Handle.
The declaration, signed by the NRC public relations official, Henrietta Eregare, observed that the suspension became necessary after the train suffered a break on Tuesday 9 April.
“In consideration of the situation, the NRC suspended the operations on the Warra-Itkpe route for 72 hours,” reads the declaration.
The company has said that the temporary suspension will allow its technical team to perform a complete audit of the train systems, face all identified failures and restore the service to safe and reliable standards.
The NRC has assured passengers its commitment to the safety and provision of efficient services, adding that the operations will resume once all the checks and repairs will be completed satisfactorily.
The Warra-Itkpe line is one of the critical railway corridors that connect the Delta and Kogi states and is strongly used by commuters and traders in the region.
