NRC targets the gas systems for the migration of electricity operations

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says that it provides to establish gas systems to allow him to migrate to the use of electricity for his operations.

The CEO of the Company, dr. Kayode Opeifa, he said it during a tour of the Lagos Metropolitan Areas Area Transport Authority (Lamata) on Monday in Lagos.

Freedomonline reports that the tour started from the Blue Rail Line in Marina to the National Theater railway station, where the NRC team inspected the Blueline independent power plant.

The team also visited the Mile 2 railway station.

Opeifa said that the plants would be used to provide electricity to power trains.

“Our future plan is to create plants that will be powered by gases and plants that will provide us with electricity to power our trains just as it is making it bladed.

According to Opeifa, one of the reasons why NRC visited Lamata is to see how Lamata was able to move on to the use of electricity.

“In another five years, we are trying to migrate the national railway line to start using electricity.

“As a partner, we speak to each other and in addition to this, we feel we have to share practical experiences.

“The state government of Lagos has opened the way for cleaner energy, and it is what we want to share with other states while we progress with the development of the national railway system,” he said.

He added that NRC would have had experiences from Lamata in the area of ​​the security, energy and ticket office area, as well as frequency.

“This is the only train in Nigeria who has that level of frequency; therefore, we must share experiences on how it is done.

“We have our directors and that of Lamata who spoke first now on the road.

“This will be followed with a courtesy visit in which Lamata and NRC will sit with the governor of Lagos to discuss further,” he said.

On the use of the Cowry card, Opeifa observed that NRC was already digitized as regards its ticketing platform, but said that, for its mass transit train, NRC would introduce the Codry card.

Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, CEO of Lamata, reiterated the determination of the Authority to provide without solution for continuity for Lagos residents.

“Lamata concerns teamwork and the vision of providing good public transport services that align with the position of the government in its topics plus the agenda,” he said.
