The package includes an educational scholarship at the university level, guaranteed employment with one of the three main companies in Nigeria, and an educational and sports subsidy of 5 million, aimed at promoting the journey of the Grassroots athlete to Global Sporting Glory.
The official presentation of the package is scheduled for June 1, 2025, during the end of a national sporting event in Lagos.
An euphoric Hon. Olopade described the gesture as “a bold back of IJA’s vision” and a powerful example of what public private collaboration can achieve in the repositioning of Nigerian sports.
“What Mr. Azeez Amida has done is really commendable. This is exactly the type of support we imagine when we create the IJA initiative. It is not just about medals, it is about shaping life, giving our young athletes a real future through education and opportunity,” said Olopade.
“We have started a base talent trip with elite roads, and this type of commitment shows that we are on the right path. I receive other well -intentioned Nigerians and organizations that take a step forward and support the bold view of the sports development of the federal government.”
The concept of IJA, introduced by the NSC under the leadership of Olopade, presents a special contingent of champions under 17 of the National Youth Games that compete as a 38th “State” at the National Sports Festival. The initiative aims to accelerate its exposure to elite competition and the development of long -term athletes.
Among the stars of the IJA is Tofumi Ibidapo, a student of the Grange School, Lagos, who made history when delivering the first swimming medal of the state of Oyo in seven years. There is also brilliant Aidan Dumuje Abili, 15, who has so far won two silver medal and a bronze medal in swimming.
In response to development, Azeez Amida expressed his admiration for the athletes and efforts of the NSC.
“These young athletes are the future of Nigeria. What the NSC has begun through IJA is not only inspiring, it is visionary. I am proud to support it in any way I can, and I hope that this is only the beginning of many more associations of private sectors.”
The initiative is already described as a change of play, turning the National Sports Festival into more than a competition, but a real opportunity platform for the next generation of Nigeria champions.
