The governor Dapo Inhabitun of the State of Ogun promised a reward in cash of N2.5 million for all state athletes who win the gold medal at the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF).
Inhabitun made his promise when he visited the athletes’ field at Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, the area of ββthe local government of Ikenene on Saturday.
“Any winner of the gold medal in this festival will receive the sum of N2.5 million from me while a silver medal will receive n1.5 million and n1 million bronze medal,” he said.
The governor promised the sum of N50,000 each in all athletes participating in the competition within 24 hours.
βYou are here because you are the best of Ogun, anyone who is not here is not good enough to represent the state.
“You are not here to compete alone, but to win, we are hosting to win and you have to bring medals home,” he said.
Inhabitun said that the state has produced world -class sports and women who made the nation proud.
He said the sports festival was organized to bring together all the Nigerians in units.
βWhen you leave here, you will be linked and exchanged the hands of friendship throughout the country.
βCome from all parts of the state, camp and trained for months promptly to the competition.
βThe state has made available the structures that would always be a point of reference in sport.
βThe new international sports arena of new renovation in Abeokuta will host international competitions. We are working to develop the sports economy in Ogun, he said.
Inhabitun, who invited athletes to collaborate with officials, promised to face the minor challenges noticed, stating that a competition of this size could not be 100 % free from sobs.
The competition started on May 16 will end on May 30th.
