The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has declared full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging to mobilize millions of young Nigerians across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the diaspora to ensure his re-election.
NYCN President, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, announced the decision at a press conference in Abuja over the weekend, saying it followed extensive consultations with youth leaders nationwide.
He said the resolution represents a unified voice of young Nigerians determined to consolidate the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration and ensure a more prosperous future for the nation.
“After giving due consideration to national developments under President Tinubu, young Nigerians have decided to declare their unwavering support for him to seek a second term in office in 2027,” Sukubo said.
“On behalf of over 60 million young Nigerians, we call on President Tinubu to declare his intention to contest.”
Sukubo noted that the council’s mobilization will extend to all 774 local government areas and diaspora youth groups.
He also announced that NYCN members are ready to purchase the ruling party’s presidential nomination form for President when the time comes.
He urged all NYCN state chapters, local government coordinators, and affiliated organizations to begin grassroots mobilization in support of the resolution.
