The National Youth Games exploded in action in Asaba and the state of IMO marched with Power, Pride and a 516 men’s team of 516. With 398 athletes lit to 118 coaches and officials, the oriental heart is rolling heavy and aims at nothing less than in domination.
IMO is not just presenting: they are showing strength. With 33 sports on closing and favorites of medal in weights, athletics, swimming, scrabble, karate, kickboxing, hockey, darts and abula, the state has the fire power to shake the table. Their zonal eliminations have also shown it, bagging 9 of 14 slots in team events.
Sports Commissioner, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, trusted confidence before the team’s departure. Supported by the governor Hope Uzodimma, he said: “Our athletes are motivated, screens and ready. The preparation is complete: we are in Asaba to win, not to participate”.
The games go from 26 August to 6 September and the stage is set. For the IMO team, it is simple: the sweat of the turning point in medals rewrites the books of records and reap the oriental heart. Asaba, attention: imo is landed and mean business.
