Marketing and demarketing are the main semantic business categories, economics, public relations and advertising speeches.
However, in these days of crossed pollination of ideas and interdisciplinary approaches in almost all the enlightening enlightens, the words and phrases have become nomadic, who have moved inside and outside various public exchanges with taste.
Today, “marketing and demarketing” are in the political register of Nigeria, maintaining a focal presence that connotes different meanings depending on its contemporary political pension. The Nigerians will never fail the opportunity to dismember the phrases that fall on their political menu, lengthening them to support one point or another. Well, I decided to exercise my analytical prerogatives to dissect the “marketing and demarket” of Nigeria while I understand them. Everyone is free to do it.
Recently, the candidate for the presidency of the Labor Party in the general elections of 2023 and the political hurricane of Nigeria, Mr. Peter Obi, was accused by the Governor of the State of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to democate Nigeria to FarWay Johns Hopkins University in the United States. Obi has held a conference on politics and change in Nigeria at the renowned university.
The Governor of the State of Lagos advised the former presidential candidate and to other Nigerians to “market” the country abroad and not “demarket”. Undoubtedly, Babajide Sanwo-Oell is an intelligent man and a patriot. Except when it was recently totally armed as a schoolgirl, its executive authority has undermined and a recalcitrant speaker restored in the state, the governor managed to stay out of the disputes, obey the instructions, focusing on his commissions and committing himself to delivering the dividends of democracy to the lagoquins. Certainly, Sanwo-Elim is a duty and responsible governor.
Market a product or service in terms of layman simply means identifying its strength and outlining its importance in order to convince people to sponsor it. Of course, there are strategies to rely on to achieve a successful marketing goal. In the same way, for Demarket a product or service means saying negative things about it that they would exhibit its weak points and dissuade people to sponsor it. Every day, millions of people engage in marketing or demarketing of various elements of countless classifications, sometimes unconsciously.
The people’s market and the Demarchet other people. Colleagues from the labor market and dedicate each other. Companies, corporate entities, churches and institutions are marketed and dedicated each other. Politicians and their supporters are marketing and dedicated each other. Marketing and demarketing are current realities in a competitive world.
The question is: Mr. Peter Obi Market or Demarket Nigeria while talking to Johns Hopkins University in the United States? During his speech, Obi highlighted the irrefutable truths about Nigeria, ranging from incremental poverty, a dying health sector, insecurity and a ferociously polarized social structure along the ethnic divisions.
Unfortunately, many apologettes of the current government seem to suffer from a sort of inexplicable neurosis that pushes them to attack anyone identifying real and deteriorating situations in Nigeria, including poverty, insecurity, mass evisceration and collective despair.
Not long ago, it was the feeling of music David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who received a repercussions for saying that economic situations in Nigeria were dangerous for life. The mortar and the pestle and the land on which we are all supported are witnesses of the thriving poverty in which the current administration has immersed the Nigerians since 2023.
The wind, the ocean, the animals in the jungle, the angels and all the demons that populate our spiritual spaces are witnesses of distressing inflation in the earth, which forced people to a desperate and urgent need for survival. The Killing camps in Borno, Benue and Altopiano are testimonies of Nigeria’s security challenges, who present themselves in the wake of several kidnappings and killings of citizens. The way to speak the truth in power on the exact conditions in Nigeria is equivalent to the country’s demarket is a puzzle that can only be resolved by the supporters of the current grotesque and macabre procession that all of us like to call a government.
As a Christian, I am aware of my moral compass, the sacred book, frowning the eyebrows to lie. Captured the narrative of Ananias and Sapphira as a timely warning for humanity to desist from spatial falsehood. It would be a fatal sin for anyone who declares that the conditions in Nigeria deserve the celebration.
The fate of Ananias and Sapphira will come across summary on anyone who is on the occasion of declaring that there is no poverty, security challenges, no inflation and no mass suffering in the country. The fury of the sky would visit anyone who affirmed that the Nigeria health sector is one of the best in the world. In fact, the way to affirm the facts about Nigeria is equivalent to the country’s demarket is one of the most unhealthy topics I have ever witnessed.
According to information released by the economic reforms of Statisense Bola Tinubu swept away 48.3% of the economy of Nigeria in just two years. According to the report, Nigeria’s GDP in 2023, before the current administration jumped to power, was $ 363.82 billion, but in 2025, Nigeria’s GDP descended to $ 188.27 billion.
The World Bank has recently planned that the most Nigerians will become poor in 2027. These are made verifiable, but unfortunately, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Oell and his gang want the Nigerians to travel abroad and tell lies on the country.
It is equivalent to scaming a high proportion if the Nigerians deceive the world with wrong information on the country and attract patronage from the international community. Isn’t it better to tell the truth about the conditions in the country, trusting that the international community would prolong the hand of help towards us? Peter Obi has no demket in Nigeria; In fact, the country has marketed by saying the truth, that it is hoped will attract sympathy and help to help millions of people suffering in Nigeria. Certainly, many people demark Nigeria and Peter Obi are not one of these.
Any Nigerian who abandoned himself to the trafficking of hard drugs or benefited from the proceeds through international borders has diminished the country, giving him a bad name. Hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin and other species of prohibited substances are enmity to human growth. Any Nigerian who has abandoned himself to electoral violence and ethnic insults that lead to a prohibition of visa has diminished the country.
Today, millions of Nigerians are harassed abroad for their educational qualifications because some Nigerians have lied and forged their educational history. These are the true demarket of Nigeria. People who abandon themselves to computer crimes, frowned by the foreigners of their funds earned hard, are the real demarchers of Nigeria. Any Nigerian who spent a false and lasts currency in a foreign country and has been arrested for the same is a country of the country.
Any Nigerian who advertises the country in bad light, engaging in criminal activities that decrease the image of the country in international environments is a deminarketer in the country. Even inside the country, anyone who drives against traffic in front of the glow of a foreigner will diminish the country because some foreign tourists capture these scenes with a camera.
The electoral body and politicians will diminish the country when, before the international electoral observers, they manipulate the electoral data to encourage the best bidder. The judiciary also diminishes the country when judges and bailiffs dance naked in public taking bribes and perverting justice in front of the whole world.
The Nigerian judiciary is reported to be the most corrupt sector in 2023, taking the highest bribes. Recall that the judiciary affirmed the victory of the current government in 2023. These reports are available in the channels of the international media.
It is a deplorable scenario of a country demarket when politicians accused of different degrees of robbery and embezzlement of public funds end up as legislators or occupy various leadership positions because they identify themselves with the dominant heights of the country’s political clan.
Nigeria has demarcata when the Nigerians return to the country and are robbed or killed by terrorists or even official security authorities such as the police and the military. Nigeria was demarcata when the police, in front of the whole world, mounts blocks and collects money from motorists, killing those who refuse to separate from their money.
If we really have to preach that the Nigerians should stop chopping the country, then we must do it sincerely, avoiding indulgences that tear the image of the country in international circles. However, asking Nigeria to lie on the conditions in the country is to advance the devil’s objectives. God detests the lie. The Nigerians must be encouraged to be straightforward in good behavior while in the international arena and desist from acts that would bring the name of the country to lack of lack.
Peter Obi did not demaket Nigeria in the United States, rather, invited the world to share our situation and make a hand of help where necessary. Some people have diminished Nigeria into foreign climates, bringing dishonor and shame to the country and we know these people. Navigating through the channels of the international media will reveal the identity of the Nigerians who have diminished the country from their past actions and associations.
Babajide Sanwo-Oell, in all its intelligence, should be moderate with its use of marketing and demarket as political tools so that it does not force the Nigerians to start digging more deeply in the archives to discover those who have diminished the country.
