Obioma Okieor donates 1 million Naira to increase secondary school sports in Oru West

In an extraordinary support show for basic sport and the development of youth, the honorable dr. Obioma Okieor (Nwa Ji Ugo Nnaya), popularly known as “ORU Dangote”, donated the sum of one million Naira to support the interactive competition of the Academy and the Secondary School Sports Competition.

The philanthropic gesture was created during the grand finale of the interactive academic and sports competition organized by the State Secondary Education Management Board. The event, which took place at the Oru West LGA headquarters in Mgidi on April 3, 2025, aroused participation from the secondary schools of Oru West, Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema and areas of the local Government Oru East which constituted the federal electoral college in the area.

The sports competition saw an enthusiastic participation of students who electrified guests with a colored subscription, traditional dances and lively athletic competitions. The great turnout of students, teachers, principals and dignitaries underlined the meaning of sport in promoting the unity and development of talents in the educational sector.

Speaking during the event he chaired, dr. Okories, the illustrious son of the community of Ozaa, who is also CEO of Obioma Enterprises, expressed his joy to be part of the initiative aimed at nourishing the talents of young people through sport.

“I am honored to be called to preside over this opportunity to Oru West from which I come. It is truly a privilege for me. I am here to show support and solidarity, and we will examine other ways in which we can support these children so that we can take them young and help them become useful to our society,” said dr. Okories.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Okoror made the cash donation of one million naira to support the sports competition in the schools of Oru West, reaffirming her commitment to the Empowerment of young people and the development of the community.

The event was also attended by the honorable Ikenna Adikibe, president of the local government of Oru West, the best officials of the executive council of the local government, the executive secretary and the members of the State Secondary Management Board, as well as the educational directors, garrisons, teachers and students of the region.

The latest donation of Dr. Okieor increases its growing portfolio of philanthropic efforts aimed at lifting young people and promoting educational and social growth in its community. His constant support continues to consolidate his leading light reputation both in the business and in politics within Oru West and beyond.

The initiative should further encourage sport participation among students and help identify and cultivate talents that can represent the state and nation in the future.
