Ododo signs seven invoices in law – Thage

The Governor of the State of Kogi, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has signed seven invoices approved by the Chamber of the State of Kogi’s assembly in law, describing legislative actions as fundamental in search of his administration for people oriented to people and institutional transformation.

Speaking shortly after the signature ceremony at the Lokoja government chamber, the governor expressed a profound appreciation for the speaker, the main officers of Aliyu and honorable members of the state assembly for what he called their “profound sense of responsibility and commitment for good governance”.

He observed that bills reflect a shared vision to improve the life of the kogites and strengthen the key pillars of development throughout the state.

Governor Ododo declared the readiness of his administration to implement the new laws with urgency, dedication and equity.

According to him, “these laws are not only simple words on paper; they are bold steps towards the remodeling of the critical sectors of our development journey, from the progress of the community that produces oil for electoral reform, the management of the territory, environmental protection and urban regulation”.

He explained that the amendment to the law of the Commission for the development of the Kogi state oil production area would guarantee that the oil communities in the state now benefits from a more transparent, structured and impact development framework.

He added that the re -enactment of the law of the emergency management agency of the State of Kogi has equipped the state with a more coordinated mechanism for the preparation and response of the catastrophes.

Governor Ododo also underlined the importance of establishing the climate change agency of the State of Kogi, stating that it was a clear indication of the government’s commitment for environmental protection, sustainable life and the guarantee of a safer and greener future for generations to come.

With a significant move to decongest the state capital and the safeguard, the governor signed the restriction of heavy trucks within the Lokoja metropolis in law.

He described the legislation as “waiting for some time”, noting that the growing risks placed by the unregulated movement of heavy trucks have required immediate and decisive action to restore order, reduce accidents and improve the flow of traffic in the city.

The governor also signed the law of the New Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission), which according to him would have provided a stronger legal base for the elections of the transparent, credible and inclusive local government. This, he added, is essential to deepen democracy to the basis.

In further demonstrating the push of his administration towards institutional reform, Governor Ododo signed the institution of the Kogi State Bureau of Lands in law. He explained that the agency would modernize the administration of the territory, eliminated useless bottlenecks in the acquisition and documentation of the territory and will increase the trust of investors in the state real estate sector.

He underlined the importance of agriculture for the economy of Kogi, stating that the amendment of the exchange of raw materials and the law on the promotion of exports aimed to enhance farmers, strengthening the chain of agricultural value and placing Kogi as a main actor in the agro -agroolence agro markets. He quoted his recent visit to Lagos, where he signed a reference partnership agreement aimed at transforming the life of farmers and resizing the agricultural production of Kogi.

Governor Ododo urged the people of the State to take the laws just signed seriously, underlining that they have been designed to their advantage. He warned that anyone who violated the law, regardless of the status, would be held responsible, underlining the zero tolerance policy of his administration on impunity.

“I am committed to delivering a state of Kogi that works for everyone,” said the governor. “A state in which governance does not concern promises but action; not words, but the impact.”
