The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the South Africa Soccer Association (SAFA) for having presented an inelegable player, Teboho Mokoena, in South Africa v. Lesotho Match played on March 21, 2025 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 ™ ™ Preliminary Contigura Regulations.
Consequently, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has declared that the party in question was lost by the representative team of South Africa for a 3-0 score.
Safa has also been ordered to pay a fine of Chf 10,000 to FIFA, while Teboho Mokoena received a warning.
The parties were notified of the terms of the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee today. According to the relevant provisions of the FDC, they have ten days to request a motivated decision, which, if requested, would be published later in legal.fifa.com. The confiscation decision remains subject to a potential appeal before the FIFA Appeals Committee.
